Week 1–2: Gentle Beginnings
  • From day one, we focus on health and comfort, monitoring weight and milestones to make sure every puppy is thriving.

  • We handle the puppies gently each day, helping them feel safe and secure as they begin to explore the world.

  • We start Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises, and Early Scent Introduction (ESI), which have been proven to build resilience and promote healthy development.

Week 3–4: Early Stimulation and Sensory Development

  • Puppies are introduced to new sounds, textures, and scents to gently stimulate their growing senses.

  • They also begin to hear the soft sounds of family life, like music, TV, and conversation, so nothing feels scary when they head to their new homes.

Week 5–6: Socialization and Exploration
  • The puppies meet new faces, including kids and adults, to help them build confidence with people of all ages.

  • We introduce basic crate and potty training to start building good habits.

  • Outdoor play becomes part of their routine, where they explore grass, gravel, and other textures while soaking up fresh air and natural sounds.

  • Playtime with toys and puzzles helps the puppies learn problem-solving and how to have fun!

Week 7–8: Building Confidence
  • Puppies get more comfortable with new experiences, like exploring different areas of the home and outdoor property.

  • We carefully introduce them to safe, adult dogs for supervised socialization.

  • Grooming practice begins with gentle brushing and nail trimming, so they’re relaxed and happy during grooming in the future.

Week 9–10: Transition Preparation
  • We reinforce everything they’ve learned, including meeting new people, exploring new environments, and continuing crate and potty training.

  • Puppies have their first vet check and vaccinations, and we make sure they’re healthy and ready for their new families.

Beyond: Lifelong Support
  • don’t worry—you’re not on your own! You are apart of the LYD family. We’re here to answer your questions and support you as your puppy grows.

Here’s what some of our puppy families have to say about their LYD experience:

There is no one other than Leesa who I would trust as a breeder. She cares for all of her puppies as if she is keeping them for life. Leesa has the most amazing dogs that she breeds and you can see the temperament come through in her puppies. Leesa is always open for meetings and questions. She makes the process the best experience ever. You will not find another breeder out there like Leesa!
